Framing

One thing I found out is, no matter how humble the painting, a good frame can turn it into a piece of art.

I can't remember when I was drawing this house. It was to try out some different pencils.
When we found this frame on the fleamarket, and didn't have a use for it yet, I looked through the pile of scribblings and thought this one looks nice in it.

This one is another example and also a collaborative work by my friend and mine.

He made the background using water colors. After some months I looked at it again and suddenly discovered the person in the left. Then I clearly could see the tree and the bird.
I actually didn't see the teepee but thought the person looks like a shaman and something was missing in the center ;-)
I was just kidding around and it looked absolutely boring before it was in the frame. Now I love it!

You have seen this painting before. This is the way it is hanging on the wall now.

Once again I was just kidding, but then I thought it makes the painting interesting and turns it into an installation.

Partygirls

I always was interested in redwork and stitchery designs. Although I found it difficult to realize a line drawing in a style I like.

Sometime ago I scribbled these two girls in an old book and yesterday thought they might make a nice stitchery pattern.

So here they are!

Let's party!!! Have a great weekend!

Metamorphosis

This is a pretty weird still life!

I think I overrated my skills a little too much with this project!
Well, I can blame it on the very cheap oilpaints from an 1-Euro store. Nobody would have been able to paint with these. They were more oil than paint actually.

So now I overpainted the vase and transformed it to this.

More interesting to look at.
I better don't tell that I painted acrylic paints over oil here and sealed it with something like mod podge in the end.
Maybe it will show cracks one day, maybe not. It's looking ok at the moment.
The oil paint was well dried for about a year or so.

Saturday activities

Window cleaning, washing dishes, doing laundry, going through some very old books and stuff to see what can go into the dustbin.
I thought there would be some hard cover books from which I could remove the covers to re-use them for painting, but actually there were only one (physics) and two tiny Watchtower books.
I cut off the covers from all of them. Sure it is a sin to destroy a Watchtower book, isn't it?

Anyway I did some doodling on the first cover.

There was an embossed title on it. Something like "Is the Bible telling the truth" or so. It showed up through the paints so I glued some paper over it. Looks a little strange.
Not a big problem because the whole painting looks strange.
However it was fun.

Birds

More animals to show.
I've had quite some parakeets over the years and I'm going to paint every of them for remembrance.
I'm still two behind.

This is a watercolor of my beloved Felix.

And this is Trudchen. Acrylic paints.

One of my parakeets was looking amazingly ugly. Unfortunately I don't have a very good photo of him, so I'm not sure if I will ever paint his portrait.
Look at this photo where he is taking a nap *lol*
Yes, he's still alive in this photo!

Black lab

Made these for a friend some time ago.

The first is from pencil and charcoal.

Next is a watercolor from the same dog.

A good frame really makes a difference!

My cat

These are two drawings of my cat Charly who passed away a long, long time ago.
It broke my heart that you were leaving way to young my furry friend.

This is an ATC I sent to a friend. I made it by using Derwent Drawing pencils.

After the ATC turned out pretty good I made this larger portrait.

I actually was surprised and totally blown away how much the dark background helped to complete the drawings. I never was good in drawing with colored pencils but these two were so much fun!

New start

Hi!
I started this blog some time ago but never actually posted something.
The reason for creating the blog was that some bloggers don't allow anonymous comments in their blogs. I couldn't comment without having a Google account.
I will continue blogging about all textile related crafts in my other blog. See link above.

This blog will be used for posting paintings and drawings that I'm doing from time to time.
It's rather meant for myself but if you like to view my humble art - enjoy!

I'm starting with a page from my sketchbook.
